In order to have overall look at the activities of ASEM SMEs Eco-Innovation Center (hereinafter “ASEIC’, Chairman Lee Kyu Dae), an organization that aims to promote eco- innovation among ASEM member countries through technical cooperation and support, ASEIC is planning to issue the 2014 ASEIC Annual Report.

This annual report includes introduction of ASEM, a summit meeting composed of 53 member countries, and ASEIC introduction with the results of ASEIC’s 6 major project outcomes.

ASEIC’s projects are evaluated to make a significant progress in 2014.

The Eco-Innovation Consulting Program implemented local consulting service to 30 SMEs from three different countries. The consulting draw environmental effects of a total 3,552 tCO2 reduction and economic effects of approximately $2,000,000.

Also, it shared on-site environmental-management skills, environmental-regulation response and successful cases of eco-innovation through seminars.

 The Inclusive Eco-Innovation Program provided matching investments between enterprises and investors by inviting Cambodian local enterprises and foreign investors. A total of 54 Laotians have completed the GEAP(Green Eco-preneurship Accelerated Program).

The Eco-Innovation Index(ASEI) research expanded its evaluation states from 25 countries to the entire 49 ASEM member countries. Also, by advancing analytical methods, ASEIC acquired the validity for the necessity and methodology of the index study at a international symposium.

Finally, the Green Business Center(GBC), located in Jakarta, Indonesia, supported SMEs of ASEM member countries trying to settle down in Indonesia by providing specialized consultation such as law and accounting, along with fundamental administrative support like office space and equipment. The GBC is currently recruiting SMEs that are willing to start their business in Indonesia.

The 2014 ASEIC Annual Report, holding such contents, will be distributed to eco-related domestic organizations, public institutions, embassies of ASEM member countries and international organizations. You can also download the whole material from the official ASEIC website.

Meanwhile, ASEIC has newly constructed a mobile webpage to strengthen its publicity. This will allow various scope of users to promptly access to our latest news, and raise the level of ASEIC’s domestic and foreign awareness.

ASEIC is planning to promote cooperation among SMEs of ASEM member countries. Furthermore, ASEIC is shaping its own Global Forum in eco-innovation in May, 2015 to share the consequences of ASEIC’s projects and to lead the diffusion of eco-innovation in the international community.

Mr. Lee Kyu dae, Chairman of ASEIC, said that “this Annual Report will be the opportunity to inform the world that ASEIC is performing the role as a liaison for technical exchange among ASEM member countries. We expect to enhance our awareness domestically and abroad.”
