ASEIC held the 2nd Global Eco-Innovation Forum on Enhancing SMEs’ Eco-Innovation Readiness in Post-2020

ASEIC held the Global Eco-Innovation Forum in June 1st, 2016 focusing on “Enhancing SMEs’ Eco-Innovation Readiness in Post-2020”, to raise awareness and tackle issues in climate change, especially finding opportunities through eco-innovation in post-2020 era. 
 
Around 200 people, representatives of ASEM 23 Member States, eco-innovation experts and SMEs attended the forum including Director-General of Production Technology of Small and Medium Business Administration of Korea, Chairman of Climate Change Center, and the Myanmar Ambassador to Korea.

In the keynote session, Prof. Raimund Bleischwitz, Chair in University College London presented “Engines of a New Eco-Industrial Dynamics”, followed by presentation of Dr.Dong-Woon Noh, Economics Senior Research Fellow Head of Korea Energy Economics Institute on “Post-2020 and the Technology”.
In the afternoon break-out sessions, global eco-innovation experts gathered to have in-depth discussions on the specific themes of △ Paris Agreement & Implementation of SMEs, △Post-2020 and Green Economy, △ASEM Countries’ Collaborative Efforts in Post-2020.

In the first break-out session, ▲Mr. Yoon-gih An, Director of POSCO Research Institute presented “International Carbon Market Mechanism” ▲Mr. Kenji Asakawa, Task Manager;Senior Policy Researcher of Institute for Global Environmental Strategy presented “Outline and the Current Status of the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)” ▲Mr. Hyun-Woo Shin, Director General of Green Technology Center presented “Climate Technology Center Networks and Green Technology Transfer”. In the second session, ▲Mr. Barbara Liskova, Project Manager in Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA) presented “State of Green Economy in Slovakia” ▲ Ms. Eun Joo Allison Yi, Senior Policy Officer of the World Bank presented “The World Bank Group’s Korea Green Growth Trust Fund ▲ Mr. Ki Tae Nam, Team Leader of Korea Energy Agency presented “The Korea Energy Agency - Energy Saving Company (ESCO) Program”. In the thirds session, ▲Mr. Hung-Suck Park, Professor of Ulsan University presented “ASEM Members - Korea’s Eco-Innovation Case” ▲ Mr. Phouphet Kyophilavong, Associate Professor and the Vice-Dean National University of Laos presented “ASEM Members - Lao PDR’s Eco-Innovation Case” ▲Mr. Sang-Joon An, Project Manager of Korea Institute of Industrial Technology presented “ASEM Eco-Innovation Consulting Program (Malaysia, The Philippines)” ▲Mr. Venkatachalam Anbumozhi, Senior Energy Economist, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN & East Asia (ERIA) presented “ASEAN : Eco-Innovation and SME Interfirm Networks for Circular Economy and 2030 targets”

Through the event, ASEIC hosted a ground for governments, institutions and SMEs to convene and discuss ways to enhance SMEs’ readiness in Post-2020, and ASEIC is continually committed to activities like Annual Global Eco-Innovation Forum to spread eco-innovation practices and to pursue sustainable development in Asia-Europe region.
