ASEIC participated as official partner of Global Green Growth Week 2016 at the Jeju International Convention Center ASEIC participated in the Global Green Growth Week (GGGW) held in Jeju International Convention Center 5-9 September 2016. Hosted by Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), GGGW was held under the theme of “Maximizing Impact for Inclusive and Sustainable Green Growth” to indentify practical, innovative solutions to sustainable development and green growth worldwide. For the week, around 500 participants including 26 GGGI member countries, institutions, private sector gathered to discuss green solutions through the Annual Green Growth Knowledge Platform Conference, Global Green Growth Summit and other side events, along with Green Growth Fair and Technology Exhibition at the venue. Among 26 GGGI member countries, 12 countries are ASEM members, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Denmark and the UK. ASEIC became the official partner of GGGW 2016 to strengthen cooperation of eco-innovation and sustainable development in Asia-Europe region. The GGGW events stressed emerging green economy and green market as new paradigm of upcoming world. The discussions included expansion of green growth concept to social inclusion, since green growth encompasses not only economic growth but also social equality and labor, education and gender. Key speakers were Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former president of the Republic of Indonesia and President of the GGGI Assembly and Chair of the GGGI Council, Dr. Lee Hoesung, Chair of Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Mary Robinson, Former president of Ireland and President of the Mary Robinson Foundation, and Won Heeryong the governor of Jeju special province of Korea. ASEIC participated in the week as an official partner to promote and demonstrate its work towards green growth and sustainable development at the Green Growth Fair and Technology Exhibition. ASEIC booth was hosted throughout the week to display projects including ASEM Eco-innovation Consulting, Inclusive Eco-innovation Program, ASEM Eco-Innovation Index and Green Business Center, and related publications were distributed to interested participants. The ASEIC booth engaged high interests and feedback from participants of GGGW, especially to facilitate collaboration in the field of green growth. As a bridge to promote green growth through eco-innovation in Asia-Europe region, ASEIC will continue to work on the topic of eco-innovation and green growth in partnership with ASEM member countries and other international institutions like GGGI in the future. |
